There are a couple of different New Zealand Nikau species and forms including the common Rhopalostylis sapida and also Rhopalostylis baueri on Raoul Island in the Kermadec Islands.
There are different forms available of Rhopalostylis sapida including a North Island, South Island, Little Barrier and Great Barrier forms and a Chatham Island form called Rhopalostylis sapida ‘Chathamica’
